Children of Eden production looking for cast members

If we have the right constellation of cast members come early February, we will present a staged version of the Broadway musical Children of Eden, by Stephen Schwartz (of Godspell fame) on June 19th. Right here in our own Parish Hall! There are parts for men, women, boys, and girls. It is described as “easy to learn” and “easy to sing”. Ample instruction will be provided by the music professionals here on the staff. Most of all, it will be fun. There will be sets, costumes and makeup, as we tell Old Testament stories through music – Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah and the Flood. As with all ventures of this type, attending rehearsals is a must. If you’ve been in a theatrical show before, you will know how close the members of a cast become, and what a pleasure it can be to go to rehearsal. It’s really like being a member of a team.

After church on January 18, (around 11:00 AM or so) I’ll be leading a read-through of twelve songs from the show. Please come to one of these read-throughs to see whether you like the music and might want to audition for the show. You do not have to read musical notation to be part of this – we have ways of helping you to learn music without reading it. If there appears to be enough interest among the congregation at these reading sessions, we will hold tryouts for the lead roles, and then schedule rehearsals throughout the Spring. If you think/know you are interested but can’t attend either of these Sundays, please let me know ASAP.

Singers outside our congregation are welcome to audition, so please let your friends know as well.
