Lynn Cleanup Project Begins!

Our April Kick-off clean-up is the first beautification project of Downtown Lynn. The effort of sprucing up Downtown Lynn businesses will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007, and the residential clean-up will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007. The theme for the clean-up is, "Lynn – Show the Beauty Within."

After the clean-up, I am planning on having 3 brainstorming sessions to get suggestions and ideas from the residents and businesses in Lynn on how we can work together to make changes.

In our last Downtown Central Lynn meeting, captains were selected for the Downtown residential areas. However, we need a captain for Franklin Street. Thank you to Emily O'Brien (Essex St.), Donna Langer (Johnson St.), Melissa Dimond (Willow St.), Erin Ford (Washington St.), and Emily Colon (Commons) for volunteering to be captains. If you're interested in being a captain, please contact me.

Now that we have captains for the streets, please help me to recruit volunteers. I have reached out to the Lynn Police Dept, Lynn Fire Dept, and Lynn Post Office. John Muschete, Lynn Health Division, and I have also received some donations from local businesses. I am working with Emily O'Brien on a flyer to be distributed. I am also working with Catherine Dhingra to write-up a press release for the Lynn Item.

The responses for this April clean-up from the residents in Lynn has been overwhelming. The residents in the Highland will be cleaning Rockaway Street, and the students from English High School will be cleaning Keaney Park with Mark Smith, School Resource Office, on Saturday, April 28, 2007.

Catherine Dhingra, Girls Inc, is coordinating the park clean-up with the Youth Council and youths of Lynn. They will focus on the following parks: Ames, Henry, Warren, and Kiley.

The Downtown Lynn businesses will clean their store front area on Friday, April 27, 2007, to begin our efforts of beautifying Downtown Lynn.

The next Downtown Central Lynn meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. at the SCI Lynn office, 52 Andrews St. Residents from LHA and the Beach commitee will be joining our meeting.
