Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’”

Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day to serve their neighbors and communities. Lynn organizations and residents will be doing just that.

SCI Lynn along with East Lynn CCenterboard, Girls Inc. of Lynn, SCI Lynn, The Lynn Food & Fitness Alliance, Communities that Care, & The Food Project will be sponsoring and coordinating a Lynn Community Donation Drive on Monday January 16, 2012 from 12:00-6:00pm. Lynn businesses including Shaws, Compare Supermarket and others will be hosting the donation drive. Volunteers will be at these locations telling customers about the donation drive and handing them a list of needed items if they wish to purchase and donate. Donations of new outerwear (coats, mittens, scarves, and hats), specific food items, and school supply donations can be made at the above mentioned locations on Monday January 16th from 12-6 and at Lynn City Hall starting Wednesday January 11th through Friday January 13th.

Donations will be sorted and delivered to Lynn Public Schools, Lynn Food and Fitness Alliance, the Lynn Shelter Association, and My Brothers Table. We hope the Lynn community will embrace this day of service by coming out to these locations to make donations!
