Haiti Relief Effort

A message from Bob Connolly:

The news media now has the Gulf and most of us gave our $10 to the Red Cross, so the crisis in Haiti must be over, right?  We all know the Haiti has a long road to recovery, but it has seemed to fall from our attention radar.  I have had the great pleasure of working with the North Shore Haitian American Association (NOSHAA) and the Haitian Elder Action League(HEAL) in coordination with the Community Minority Cultural Center, City Hall and other community leaders.  We are trying to map out how Lynn can continue to support the victims of the earthquake.  HEAL with the help of city hall and the Lynn Restaurant Association collected 35,000 pounds of supplies and shipped them to Haiti.  A number of HEAL members also traveled to Haiti to make sure the supplies got distributed to the most needy.  They had planned for a two week turn around and shipping costs were estimated at around $5000, but some of the HEAL members have now been there upwards of 5 weeks and the bureaucracy of Haiti has doubled their shipping costs.  Regardless of the pitfalls they experienced thus far the coalition has vowed to continue to send supplies no matter the cost.
Tim Haley, the new owner of the North Shore Navigators has generously offered us 500 (or more) tickets to sell, with 50% of each $6 ticket price  being donated to Haitian Relief.  The game is on Tuesday July 27 at 6:15 pm.  More than the benefit of the money toward our cause, we hope the event will regalvinize our community to once again realize the people of Haiti, still need help.
I am in the possession of the tickets, but will be away until 7/18.  I am hoping you and your respective staffs will embrace this event by buying tickets individually or as a group.  I can drop off tickets starting 7/19.  Checks can be made out to the CMCC-Haitian Relief.  Thank you in advance for any help you can afford us.  Please call should you have any questions.
